Loch Ewe is part of the beautiful but rugged coast of Wester Ross, Scotland. A natural, deep water harbour, it will be forever associated with assembling large numbers of merchant ships for the arduous Artic Convoys of WW2, taking supplies to Russia. I took the photograph for this landscape (horizontal) format black and white print looking towards the mouth of Loch Ewe. It was a view that brave merchant seamen faced up to as they sailed out to one of the most dangerous routes of WW2.
