Canary Wharf on the Isle of Dogs, London is famous for the tower of One Canada Square. At 235m it was London's tallest building until The Shard. Canary Wharf was named after the Canary Islands which were given that name because of the large dogs found there. The Spanish name Gran Canaria comes from the same root as canine. Canary Wharf is now one of the wealthiest postcode areas of the UK. It has become a successful financial area since first built thirty years ago and is now becoming a home for technolgy.
