The Goldfinch, or European Goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis), is a beautiful finch with a red face and head and a yellow patch on its wings. They are often associated with the teasel, for feeding on which their elongated finch beak is particularly well suited. A woodland edge bird they are common in gardens and parks. They live and breed in loose groups and the collective term for a group of Goldfinch is a ‘charm’.
